    Today is my 33rd Birthday...
I'll celebrate by seeing Helen Back & the Str8 Razors at The Khyber tonight.

32 was a motherfucker of a year. I'm expecting 33 to be even harder. I'm kinda looking forward to it.

I haven't been around much as I've been working 64 hour weeks. Apologies to Ricky & to Peter for not calling to say Happy Birthday. I wish I could be at Peter's B-B-Q tomorrow, but it's undoable. Taking off tonight required doing a double tomorrow. And a shift Sunday night.

"Sarah," I hear you say in a softly scolding tone, "you could have just given up some of the overtime..."

"NO! NEVER!" I respond. "I'm too poor to give up overtime!!!"

    And three weeks it is...
I will be at karaoke this Sunday night. I'll have to leave around 11:30 due to an overtime shift, but there I will be. I can't miss the return of Ricky, can I? Whether or not I'll be there next week will depend on whether or not I feel happy to be there this Sunday.

If you wonder where I've gone...
...I've decided to abandon the Locust Bar for awhile. It's not a matter of turns (you all know I'm pretty easygoing about that). It's a matter of the fact that I can't remember the last time I was there and just had a flat-out great time. If I'm not having a great time, then I may as well use that time more productively. So if you don't see me, I haven't died. I'm just tired of the scene.

I'm betting I hold out for three weeks. Anyone wanna start a pool?

    Opinions Sought...
I've been hanging out on WinMX a lot lately. I'm looking for ideas of what to download. I finally remembered to get "Ignition" by R. Kelly...that song just strokes my ear perfectly. Every time I hear it I wish it were 20 minutes long. Strange, because it's not my usual cup of tea. I also found a mash-up with "Ignition" and Eminem's "Superman".

Finally getting the Fountains of Wayne version of "Baby, One More Time" was great. I looked for that one for ages.

P.S. Job is going pretty well, except I don't get on too well with one of the managers. He felt I was rude and disrespectful when I held up a hand to signal to him that a customer was saying something to me while he was also talking to me. He's not very bright, but he could get me fired. I'm thinking of switching to evening shift, but their eve. shift would allow for absolutely no life.

What I am desperately trying to figure out is...
...how do people work full-time AND have lives?

If you have the answer, I'll pay well for you to share it.

    morally deficient
Threat rating: Medium. Your total lack of decent
family values makes you dangerous, but we can
count on some right wing nutter blowing you up
if you become too high profile.

    The New Job...
So far, training has alternated between really interesting, mind-numbingly boring and absolutely hilarious. Most boring: trying to commit the different services available in different parts of the country to memory. Most interesting: Learning how the different systems work (even the payment method stuff is a lot more interesting than you'd think it would be).

Most hilarious: Alright...part of the job will be listening to the recorded greetings on the womens side of the national talk line (the national line is for people who don't even want to pretend to want to actually meet people and just want amature phone sex...paid professionals are available, but they cost a LOT more and of course it's a whole different dynamic; all of the lines are free for women because the women won't pay for them and because the men won't pay if the women aren't there).

    TOO HOT!!!
Damnit, I've been looking forward to summer weather, but I need a few 80 and 85 degree days before I can handle 95 degree days. I need a bit of transition time, damnit!

Aside from that, I'm finishing up class, getting nervous about my new job and lamenting my celebacy vow that led me to turn down a date with that ultimate rarity...A MAN I'D ACTUALLY LIKE TO GO OUT WITH! On the other hand, I know that I need to spend some time away from the Male-O-Drama and that everything else in life I'm doing right now is too important to risk on some guy. Can't deal with another David now, and if they actually mean something to me, they all turn out to be as insane (though perhaps in different ways) as he was. And I'm now too busy to bother with meaningless.

Wow, I NEVER thought I'd hear myself say THAT!

    And the word is...
    ...Monday, the thirtieth of June.

That's my first day of training. I have to be in at *delicate shudder* 8 am. The first two weeks of work will be all training, 8 am to 4:30. Then...then I start my shift, which will be graveyard.
'So, Sarah,' I hear you wonder, 'what will you be doing?' )

I must've knocked their socks off...
I have officially been hired. I will be starting around 30 June.

By the way, fun running into Aaron while wearing said long, red linen dress accessorized with socks. Especially when he made clear he read the entry about the red dress crisis...I couldn't stop thinking "He knows I have socks in my bra..."

I was so depressed to lose the socks...I want my socks back!!! I was so...impressive.

The good news is...my long, red linen dress is now too big on me.

The bad news is...I was planning to wear it to my second interview tomorrow afternoon at the place I interviewed with last week.

Can someone loan me 15 pounds for about 18 hours?

Damn. I wore my only other interview-appropriate dress last week. Now what?

    *ADDED LATER*

I managed to borrow 15 pounds. Or at least, I've managed to make the neckline of the red linen dress stop gaping away from my body. It involves three pairs of white cotton socks, one and a half stuffed into either bra cup. I'm now filling the dress admirably. I tried a few things on over my newfound va-va-voominess, and I am hoping I get the job so I can start saving up for breast implants. Damn, I now have some SERIOUS boob action going on...

    Can I keep it?

    Queer As Folk Addiction...
I started watching Queer As Folk when I had the flu about six months ago. Thanks to Comcast On Demand, I watched the entire second season over 2 or 3 days. I joined Netflix recently and the first thing I got are the QAF episodes from the first season. They came today. I just watched 8 episodes. My eyes and my head both hurt.

    Someday, I must learn moderation.

"But, Sarah" I hear you cry, "you wouldn't be the person we know and love if you didn't do everything in life to total excess".

    Yeah, well...

Can someone PLEASE tell me why QAF has the hottest sex scenes I've ever seen? Damnit, I know firsthand that heterosexual sex can be intense and amazing. How come it rarely translates well onto film? Yes, there are exceptions, but not a whole lot of them that I can think of. And most of them involve Susan Sarandon.

The Good News, The Bad News...
Job interview went well. Even though I was running on 3.5 hours of sleep, it went well. It must have went well. They called me less than 2 hours after I left to schedule my second interview. Stopped to see my uncle at the store after the interview, and had lunch in the park with Ricky and Mikko after that.

I think I am going to end up needing new carpet in the sitting area and needing to have the loveseat re-upholstered. I had the loveseat re-upholstered less than 2 years ago, and the carpeting is less than a year old. So I am PISSSED!!! I am not often in that part of the room and I think the water has been there for awhile. I think there's mildew.

    *Sigh*

I'll answer all recieved questions tonight. If you'd like to ask me some questions, have at me. If you'd like me to ask you questions, just say so.

    Oh, Dear...
...I'm getting depressed. Or at least, I am getting my particular version of depressed. My version of depression is avoidant. I can't do this again. Depression is not an option at the moment. All I know is that all of the sudden, all I want to do is avoid everything I'm supposed to do, including the stuff I enjoy. I want to bury my head in the sand and make the world go away.

    Now what?

    The Truth Is...
...that I have no idea what on earth I want to do with my Live Journal. Make it a watered down version of my Open Diary? Try my hand at a fictional diary? Use it to troll for cute, confused males? Use it to reflect on pop culture?

I'm open to ideas, suggestions and propositions.
